Councils have a ‘real opportunity’ to redesign children’s services as they face a fourth consecutive year of cuts to central government funding, a think-tank expert has suggested.
Senior policy researcher at the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU), Ingrid Koehler, issued the positive message after an analysis by Community Care of 2014/15 council budgets found spending on children’s services had dropped by an average of 4% in real terms.
