Doncaster out of intervention

Communities secretary Eric Pickles is to withdraw the intervention team at Doncaster MBC as soon as its education trust has been set up. 

The corporate intervention, brought in to tackle major failures at the authority, was due to draw to a close on 31 July 2015. However, following a peer review last week which claimed the council was just ‘ordinary’, Mr Pickles has announced he will pull out the government-appointed commissioners and end the intervention.
