Chiefs doubt Whitehall plans for power shifts

Most council chiefs doubt the next Government will deliver a decentralisation power shift, new research issued today has indicated.

In its fifth annual sector-wide survey of local government leaders, big four consultancy group PwC found council chief executives and leaders remained deeply sceptical the next administration would commit to a significant rebalancing of powers and funding by the end of the decade.
