Councils raise pupil premium concerns

London Councils has raised concerns over government plans to introduce an early years pupil premium, as students ready to go back to school.

In its consultation response to a Department for Education (DfE) consultation on an early years premium, the local government organization warned ministers have failed to recognise higher living costs in London. 

This could limit both the level of support and the benefits that London’s 36,478 most disadvantaged three and four-year-olds receive from the Early Years Pupil Premium.
