Former chief secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, has welcomed the ushering in of a ‘new age of municipal responsibility’.
Speaking at The MJ’s Future Forum North today, Sir Danny said the sector should be pleased that the central government grant to local authorities was being replaced by the full devolution of business rates.
