By Jonathan Werran | 17 October 2014

Former Bristol City Council chief executive Jan Ormondroyd has been selected to lead beleaguered Rotherham MBC as interim chief executive, with a troubleshooting brief to manage ongoing reviews, it has been revealed.

Mr Ormondroyd will take up the post, fixed at a £160,000 salary, from 3 November after a consultation process that involved support from the Local Government Association to find an appropriate candidate capable of guiding the beleaguered authority through some crunch challenges.

These include not only ongoing responses to the Jay report, but also an Ofsted inspection of Children’s Services, working with Malcolm Newsam, the newly appointed Commissioner, and a  Corporate Governance Inspection carried out by head of the troubled families unit, Louise Casey, on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government.
