Javid backs Homelessness Bill

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has given his backing to a Bill that would place a duty on councils to intervene earlier to prevent homelessness.

Bob Blackman MP, who introduced the Bill to Parliament, said: ‘Throughout my 24 years in local government prior to becoming an MP, I saw the devastation that can be caused by homelessness first-hand, with too many people simply slipping through the net under the current arrangements.
