Social care directors have urged ministers to finance a long-term solution to delayed discharges after a damning study linked the issue to increased mortality rates.
A report published today in the British Medical Journal found that the increased prevalence of patients experiencing a delay in discharge from hospital in 2015 was associated with a rise in mortality.
