Making a solid case against short-term service savings

A month on from the elections and many councils are looking to the tasks of the coming year and planning for the future.

New administrations are setting out their aspirations for the next four years with the staff team.
 
In some areas which are nominally ‘no overall control’ this can be exceedingly complex and bring its own tensions.
 

Elsewhere, there has been little change in power and it might be tempting to think that the future will look like the recent past.  There are budget worries, but everyone has managed somehow.
