Westminster City Council has claimed Labour leader Ed Miliband’s plans to impose a mansion tax on properties worth more than £2m would hurt the 'squeezed middle’ and cause an 'exodus' of economic migrants from the flagship London Conservative borough.
The comments from influential Westminster leader Cllr Philippa Roe come ahead of Mr Miliband’s speech to the Labour Party conference in Manchester today, in which he is set to explain revenues levied on properties worth more than £2m would help pay for extra funding on the NHS in England.
