Ministers to limit council exemptions clause

The Government is to backtrack on a controversial clause in the Children and Social Work Bill which would have exempted innovative councils from statutory responsibilities.

Children’s minister Edward Timpson has written to directors of children’s services, confirming the Government has tabled amendments to the innovation clause in the Bill.
