School accountability under the spotlight

Town hall chiefs have warned of growing confusion about the accountability of local schools in the wake of the Government appointing an education commissioner in Birmingham.

Education secretary Michael Gove announced this week he was appointing Peter Clarke – the former head of Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command – as education commissioner to examine the recent allegations of attempts of a Muslim plot to take over schools in the city.
