Tees Valley ups pace as it accepts mayor argument

The Tees Valley region could secure a raft of devolved powers including over further education and culture by December in return for an elected mayor.

A statement from the leaders of the five Tees Valley councils and Northern Powerhouse minister James Wharton said they wanted the region to be part of the ‘important first round of devolution deals’ which is expected to be announced in the Spending Review on November 25.
