Welsh council plans £1m senior management overhaul

Rhondda Cynon Taf council is poised for a management restructure aimed at trimming £1m from senior management costs, it has emerged.

The council, which is Wales' second largest authority, is set to outline the cost-cutting measures next month.

It is understood that Rhondda Cynon Taf chief executive, Steve Merritt, who has been asked to develop a new management structure for consideration, will place the emphasis on the ‘deletion’ of existing posts and sharing responsibilities between the remaining senior managers.

As part of this restructure, Rhondda Cynon Taf leader Cllr Andrew Morgan has conceded the need to re-grade the new posts to take account of the extra responsibilities.
