100% retention pilots 'misleading'

Smith Square’s top officials have labelled the 100% business rate pilots ‘misleading’ for failing to provide full retention of the locally-raised tax.

Speaking at the Local Government Association’s (LGA) annual finance conference last week, chief executive Mark Lloyd and deputy chief executive Sarah Pickup questioned the value of the pilots, claiming they did not live up to what was promised by then Chancellor George Osborne more than two years ago.
