A new think-tank forecast today has suggested a rosier view of the public finances than previous predictions as chancellor Philip Hammond prepares his Budget for Monday.
The National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) believes Mr Hammond can now spend an extra £30bn between 2019/20 and 2022/23, and still meet his fiscal targets compared to projections last spring from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
