Here in Craven we have just held our annual Community Champions awards ceremony, celebrating voluntary groups and individuals who make a real difference to people’s lives throughout the district.
It’s one of my favourite evenings of the year, not least because it is one of the few times I can speak in a room full of people without somebody shouting at me about council tax, planning decisions or potholes (I know, a county council function).
