Areas with lowest life expectancy should get more vaccines, says Burnham

Greater supplies of vaccines should be made available in places with the lowest life expectancy, mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, has said.

Speaking on Sophy Ridge on Sunday, he said decisions about areas of the country to prioritise should be ‘a judgement based on health’.

He added: ‘The life expectancy rate varies very widely across the UK. There are places where it is ten years behind the areas where it’s highest. So basically what that means is in those areas people in their sixties have the same level of health as people in their seventies in other areas.
