Authorities in ‘fear for the future,’ but coping – for now

Councils are confident they can cope financially in the coming year but fear for the future, a survey of local authority leaders and chief executives has revealed.

The annual Local State We’re In report by consultancy PwC found two out of three councils were confident they could maintain service delivery over the next 12 months – but only 16% felt they could cut costs enough to protect services over the coming five years.
