Bed blocking focus causing ‘unintended consequences’

Focus must be switched from reducing delays in transfers of care to ensuring community care is fully resourced, care leaders have urged.

The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) made the call after a survey of social care directors found 82% had experienced short-term stays in care homes becoming long-term stays as a result of the haste for hospital discharge.
