Bonus is 'disproportionate attack' on council finances

A council has criticised the New Homes Bonus for being a ‘disproportionate attack on local authority finances’ after research showed deprived authorities were losing out.

The Special Interest Group of Municipal Authorities (SIGOMA), which claimed the New Homes Bonus was diverting funding from some of the most deprived councils in England to the wealthier South East, claimed the loss per head in Knowsley was expected to be £102.
