Budgeting for a level playing field

Gender responsive budgeting is a way of looking at the potential impact of economic policies to develop approaches that promote equality between women and men. It’s gaining popularity in Europe and elsewhere – but how much traction is being achieved with this agenda in the UK?

A new report commissioned by CIPFA from chair of the Scottish Government Equality and Budgets Advisory Group, Angela O’Hagan, throws some light on how UK public administration organisations, including local authorities, can integrate gender analysis into their decision making.
