Chain ferry contract secured

Wight Shipyard has secured a contract to make improvements to a chain ferry for Isle of Wight Council.

The council hopes the modifications to the ‘floating bridge’ connecting Cowes and East Cowes will enable it to operate in all tide conditions and generate more revenue.

Currently there are issues with the chain depth during fast-flowing spring ebb tides.
