Chancellor branded ‘biggest threat to devolution’

Greater Manchester’s interim mayor Tony Lloyd has branded chancellor George Osborne the ‘biggest threat to devolution’ faced by local government.

Mr Lloyd, who is bidding to become Labour’s candidate for the Greater Manchester mayoral role, said funding cuts delivered by the chancellor made service reform in councils ‘massively more difficult or near impossible’.
