Chief to retire after 40-year local government career

Swindon BC’s chief executive, John Gilbert, has announced his retirement after working in local government for 40 years.

Mr Gilbert joined the council in 2008 as the director of children’s services, after which he was appointed the director of children’s and adult services in 2010.

He became chief executive in 2015.
