Council chief says protest 'was not in any way aimed at people of Indian heritage'

The chief executive of Luton BC Robin Porter has said he is reassured a march in the town following heightened tensions in Kashmir ‘was organised out of genuine concern for the people living in the area’.

A number of Luton residents came together on Friday for the march and protest. Mr Porter said the ‘peaceful and legitimate protest’ was organised ‘first and foremost because there are a large number of residents who have friends and family in the Kashmir region who are understandably very worried about the current situation’.
