Council employee jailed for £100k Grenfell funds fraud

A Kensington and Chelsea LBC employee has been jailed for five and a half years after admitting fraud offences relating to the Grenfell fire.

Jenny McDonagh of Abbey Wood, who started work in the council’s Grenfell finance team last October, stole five pre-paid credit cards in May and topped them up from the council’s fund for survivors and the bereaved. She used the cards to withdraw cash, transfer money into her own account and to make personal purchases. The sums involved totalled more than £100,000.
