Councillors allowed to join integrated care boards

Controversial guidelines excluding councillors from Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) are to be withdrawn following uproar from councils.

Under draft guidance from NHS England, elected members were specifically excluded from joining ICBs, which will be responsible for drawing up health service plans and allocating NHS budgets as part of Integrated Care System (ICSs).
