Councils ‘best’ to decide where to spend £2bn for social care

Councils have been told they are ‘best placed’ to decide how to spend the additional £2bn the Government has stumped up for social care.

A letter last week to council chief executives from the Government, seen by The MJ, said the funding was being distributed ‘according to social care need’ but there would be a ‘small number of conditions’ attached to the grant, which was announced in the Budget earlier this month.
