'Responsibility without power' after academisation

Local authorities will be accountable for ensuring there are enough school places after academisation, but will have no power to act, an expert has warned. 

The Department for Education white paper, which has outlined plans to convert all schools into academies by 2022, said the future role of local authorities would be to make sure ‘every child has a school place’.
