Local authorities should not ‘wait until the last minute’ to help families in danger of becoming homeless, the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has warned.
A new report on homelessness, Still no place like home?, published by the LGO today said some councils were aware about a family’s impending homelessness crisis but did nothing to avert it, acting only when they are forcefully removed by bailiffs.
