Councils take direct control of failing housing services company

Four councils yesterday dismissed the board at a housing services company and took direct control of the organisation after problems with health and safety arose.

It came after problems were discovered with gas safety, water hygiene, electrical and fire safety checks at a number of council homes managed by East Kent Housing (EKH) on behalf of Canterbury City Council, and Dover, Folkestone & Hythe and Thanet DCs.
