Councils to make case for further Government flood funds

Councils are lobbying Government to provide support for flood-hit families and small businesses whose insurance does not cover the costs of their recovery.

As the clean-up in South Yorkshire and the Midlands begins following the recent deluge, local authorities have reported large numbers of households and businesses unable to obtain insurance cover for flood damage, or who face high excess fees.
