Councils face significant new demands under ministers’ plan to kick-start Britain’s ‘broken’ housing market – but critics warned the reforms do not go far enough.
Speaking as the Government’s long-awaited housing white paper was published this week, communities secretary Sajid Javid announced councils would be forced to apply a standard formula for calculating local housing demand, which would be used to produce ‘realistic’ plans.
