Councils will play 'key role' in mitigating benefit cap impacts

Councils are expected to play a key role in mitigating the impact of the new benefit cap, which experts say will impact four times the number of families than the previous arrangements.

The new cap, which comes into force today, will limit how much money a working age household can receive in benefits to £20,000 a year and £23,000 in London.
