EXCLUSIVE: Sector stifled by low salaries

Low salaries in local government could starve the sector of talented managers deemed essential for driving innovation and more commercial ways of working, an exclusive survey has revealed.

Research conducted by recruitment experts Penna indicated nearly nine in ten (86%) council chief executives admitted that attracting talent was difficult in the last 12 months – and the same figure noted an increased competition for the best staff.
