Perhaps it was all the fives involved that saw Fife Council deposit nearly £300,000 too much into the bank account of one of its citizens by mistake.

A typing error meant that the innocent party, who was due to receive £59.95 each month, was instead paid £59,395 for five months due to a typing error. Fans of the late, great Eric Morecambe will recall that he hoped some poor football commentator would one day face the ultimate tongue-twister: ‘East Fife 4, Forfar 5’.
