Electoral burden

The election has prompted a lot of reflection on what went right and what went wrong.

It’s not just the political campaigners and pollsters who are navel-gazing. Returning officers and election administrators are also reviewing the experience and drawing out lessons.

For those of us who had a combined poll there’s a lot to think about. I had two parliamentary elections (with parts of the constituencies drawn from four other electoral areas), a full district election and fourteen parish and town council elections. My sympathies are with those who had a mayoral election on top of all this.
