‘Financially challenged’ councils set for fresh sustainability audit

Local government figures have welcomed news that auditors will hold a fresh inquiry into the financial sustainability of councils.

The National Audit Office (NAO), which last looked at the issue in 2014, is expected to start its work this autumn and publish a report just after Christmas.
