Five councils to trial social workers scheme

The new national assessment and accreditation system (NAAS) for child and family social workers is expected to be rolled out to five areas this month.

Leeds and Manchester city councils, as well as Oldham, Wigan and Bury MBCs, are to pilot the scheme, which the Government hopes will raise the professional status of social workers and ensure they have the right knowledge and skills to practice effectively.
