Fresh calls for Right to Buy suspension

A housing body has renewed calls for ministers to suspend the Right to Buy (RTB) programme amid further evidence that councils cannot replace stock quickly enough.

Head of policy at the Chartered Institute of Housing, Melanie Rees, said: ‘We believe ministers should suspend the scheme to stem the loss of social rented homes and look at more effective ways to help people access home ownership.’
