Future Forum: Spending Review crucial decision for ministers

The next Spending Review will involve the biggest non-Brexit decision ministers will make during this Parliament, including how to find an extra £18bn of fresh spending cuts, the Institue for Fiscal Studies (IFS) has warned.

Speaking to delegates at The MJ's Future Forum in London today, IFS director Paul Johnson said national and local government spending faced yet further spending squeezes into the mid-2020s unless the UK's low growth rates improved.
