Give councils health powers to end NHS ‘confusion’

Councils must be given greater responsibility over regional health services to end ‘confusion’ between social care and the NHS, a review has concluded.

Findings from a study led by former health secretary Alan Milburn suggested two thirds of NHS staff in England were ‘frustrated’ by divisions between health and social care systems while 70% did not understand the role of national bodies.
