Gwynne aims to find compromise over Haringey deal

By Dan Peters | 24 January 2018

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has asked shadow local government secretary Andrew Gwynne to lead mediation in a dispute over Haringey LBC’s regeneration programme.

The talks to heal the Labour rift come after the party’s ruling national executive committee (NEC) urged the council to pause its plans for a Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV), under which the local authority will transfer £2bn assets to a public-private partnership with Lendlease.

Mr Gwynne will discuss Haringey’s plans with centrist council leader, Cllr Claire Kober, who is expected to be ousted by the left of the party following this year’s elections after being leader for nine years.
