EXCLUSIVE: Half of children could avoid care

Councils have been urged to refocus on reducing demand after analysis revealed up to half of children could have avoided being taken into care.

In a joint article in The MJ this week, Grant Thornton’s Ginette Beal and assistant director at iMPOWER, Ebony Hughes, warned services targeted at lower level need and prevention had faced ‘disproportionate’ financial pressures.
