We have all been moved by the war in Ukraine so it should be of little surprise that communities right across the country have responded in their thousands by pledging to open their hearts and hearths to those fleeing the war-torn country.

While a sponsorship scheme already exists for Afghan refugees, it is tiny by comparison. Implementing and delivering the Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme – on a much larger scale, and at pace – will require more than just goodwill.
