Jones: Government fully committed to rates retention

Local government minister Marcus Jones has insisted the Government is ‘still fully committed to proceeding with’ business rates retention.

Speaking at think-tank NLGN’s annual reception yesterday, Mr Jones admitted it ‘wasn’t ideal’ that the calling of the General Election torpedoed the Local Government Finance Bill, which would have introduced 100% retention.
