Kid’s care on a cliff edge

All eyes are on the Government ahead of the imminent social care Green Paper and next year’s Spending Review to help beleaguered social workers cope with soaring demands.

Chancellor Philip Hammond’s stopgap pledge of £410m for adult and children’s social care next year and a further £85m for children’s services over five years for the worst affected areas will not cover a budget gap that is on course to exceed last year’s total of £800m.
