Current Whitehall plans to offer £1bn of discounted lending to councils would have a ‘positive but marginal impact’ on infrastructure investment, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said.
Responding to a Treasury consultation, which closed last week, the LGA said the initiative had the ‘potential to reduce costs to local government’ but was ‘unlikely to have a significant impact on capital spending plans’.
