LGA seeks cash to defend legal claim

The Local Government Association (LGA) is seeking financial support from across the sector as it prepares for a legal fight with NHS trusts over rates relief.

It is believed Smith Square officials hope they can get a financial contribution of a few hundred pounds from every member to help the 49 councils defend the latest legal claim, which is expected to be discussed at a hearing on 12 April, when a judge will direct the future conduct of the case.
